At Pi Kappa Alpha, Delta Nu Chapter, we strive to build strong ties with our community. As of September 2008, we have accumulated over 2,500 community service hours in just 5 months. We have worked with disabled children in nearby public schools. We have donated time and money to make dinners for the families living at a nearby Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is a place that people can stay when they are having trouble with money and can’t afford other sources of shelter. We got a large group of people together to barbeque outside for all of the tenants. We have helped out with many WayneStateUniversity activities. Doing this included guarding tents and working security for student council sponsored concerts. This also involved helping WayneState by cleaning up different areas on campus. We have also helped out a lot with the Forth Friday events this summer that are events to promote Detroit city and provide entertainment for the community every month. We were given the task to flyer around Detroit for the event, hang up banners in downtown Detroit, and work as security for the concerts held there. No matter what the event entailed, we have gone above and beyond to give back to our community.

International Work Day
The men of Delta Nu held their annual International Work Day on July 19th, 2008. We made new improvements and repairs to our house to try to reencapsulate the glory that it once had. With the attendance and participation of 30 gentlemen and 15 ladies from our friendly sororities, we were able to reinvent the image of our "headquarters" into the home that the residents and the community is proud of. Outside you will find a new lawn and flora with beautiful lights surrounding them. The brick arrangements are as that of the old style mansion the Pike House was, is, and will continue to be. The inside of the house is decorated with new paint and pictures that combines the progress of the new year and the elegance and memories of the years before. The safety of our residents is improved by the repair of our fire escape. Within the next couple of months we will be installing new bathrooms and carpet throughout the house. But the most anticipated improvement will be our new pillars that will hold our physical structure and symbolize the strong pillars of values the Pikes of Delta Nu hold dear. We would like to thank Ms. Kimberly Itson, mother of Brother Calvert, IMC, for her help in providing food for the event. May her feet never go weary in the service of Pike.
