ABOUT US

DELTA NU AND PI KAPPA ALPHA

First off, What is Pi Kappa Alpha? Well, here's the long and short of it...

Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity (ΠΚΑ) is an international, secret, social,
Greek-letter, college fraternity. It was founded at 47 West Range
at the University of Virginia in the United States on March 1, 1868.

Pi Kappa Alpha is an international brotherhood composed of
210 student chapters, 9 colonies, and 120 alumni associations.
The Fraternity has more than 227,000 members and has maintained
the largest average chapter and pledge class size of any international
fraternity for most of the past 20 years. Pi Kappa Alpha, through its members,
has donated millions of dollars to philanthropic causes and community
organizations across North America. Pi Kappa Alpha's vision is to
"set the standard of integrity, intellect, and achievement for our members,
host institutions, and the communities in which we live."

Which of course brings us to the next
question you might ask, What is Delta Nu (ΔΝ)?

Delta Nu was originally formed in 1950, comprised of 16 as an unaffilliated fraternal presence on Wayne State's campus. It wasn't until 1952, however, that Don Miller and Delta Nu's current membership had began scouting out national fraternities to affiliate with. After a long search and a couple country-wide road trips, finally Donald had arrived at Notre Dame and gotten in contact with their Pike chapter, who persuaded Mr. Miller to affilliate with what would become one of the largest, most sucessful international fraternities to date. Since then, 2 houses and countless members later, Delta Nu has evolved into an unstoppable campus presence, representing the cream of Wayne State's crop, a precision-crafted enviroment of the highest ambition, intellect and professionalism between all walls of Detroit. Setting the standards across the board of scholarship, leadership, athletics and gentlemanship, Delta Nu remains the top recruiter of tommorow's leaders, building up from the ground floor the successful alumni we've come to know and respect.

Furthermore, The Delta Nu Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha is dedicated to fostering a truly lifelong fraternal experience. This begins by recruiting scholars, leaders, athletes, and gentlemen.

Scholars – The Pi Kappa Alpha Delta Nu Chapter maintains a strong attitude toward academic success. As our members are at school to receive degree's, our primary focus is on strong scholastic achievement.  With a chapter G.P.A. of 3.2, we succeed phenominally.

Scholarship

Leaders – Delta Nu Chapter is recognized as an organization of Campus Leaders.  On Campus, our members lead other student organizations, such as Up Til Dawn, Student Council, Orientation Leaders, IStart, and more.  It is nearlty impossible to get involved with Wayne State without noticing the Pi Kappa Alpha presence.  For this reason, Pike also sees the largest Rush Classes of any Greek Organization on average.

Athletes – Being on a predominantly communiting campus, Delta Nu sees Athletics as one of the most important aspects of university life. We have members in Wayne State Varsity athletics.  We also participate in intermural sports.  We have a great history in floor hockey, basketball, football, and volleyball.

Gentlemen –  Pi Kappa Alpha recognizes itself as a fraternity of gentleman.  Recognizing ourselves as among the best Pikes in the nation, we too are the best of gentleman.

Living on an urban campus in the center of an economicly blight Detroit, we work hard to help our community.  We this far raised over $5000 for non-profit organizations, while donating nearly 5000 hours of our time.

Here at Wayne State, Pike also strives to keep a good relationship with every sorority on campus. A Pike has been the Delta Zeta "Big Bro" for 4 straight years.  Pikes have also frequently on Alpha Gamma Delta's "Alpha Gam Man" Court and Kappa Delta's "Daggerman" Court.  We are very involved with the sororities, frequently co-hosting events and mixers.  So far this year, we have hosted 5 mixers with sororities on our campus.
